Your trust is part of the line we look after

We started by feeding frontline healthcare workers at 2am loading docks. The same care we brought to the line, we bring to your data: we collect very little, we never sell it, and we tell you the truth about all of it in plain language.

Feed The Line ("we," "us," "the line") is a non-commercial community resource for the well-being and working conditions of healthcare staff. We are not a store. We don't run ads, we don't sell anything, and we don't sell or rent your information to anyone. This policy explains the limited data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We wrote it the way a charge nurse would hand off a chart at shift change — honestly, briefly, and without the fluff.

What we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. In practice, that comes down to three places:

1. Newsletter signup

If you choose to subscribe to our updates, we ask for your email address. We may also store the date you signed up and which page you signed up from, so we know what's useful to people. That's it — no name required, no employer, no job title. We use your email only to send you the wellness and shift-survival content you asked for, plus the occasional note about the line. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and it works the first time.

2. Contact form

If you write to us through the contact form, we collect the email address you give us and whatever you choose to put in your message. We use that information for one thing: to read what you sent and reply to you. We don't add contact-form addresses to our newsletter list, and we don't pass your message along to anyone outside the line.

3. Basic analytics

Like most websites, we keep a basic, privacy-minded count of which pages get visited and roughly how people arrive (for example, from a search engine or a link someone shared). This helps us figure out which guides are actually helping people on the floor so we can write more of those. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not follow you across other websites, and we do not try to identify you personally from this data.

How we use your data

Plainly: we use the little we collect to send you what you asked for, to answer you when you reach out, and to make the guides better. We do not use your data to sell you anything — there is nothing to sell. We do not use it for targeted advertising. We do not make automated decisions about you.

Cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum. We use the few that are necessary for the site to function and for our basic analytics count. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Your browser lets you block or delete cookies at any time through its settings; the site will still work, though a couple of small conveniences may reset between visits.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to keep the lights on — for example, the company that delivers our newsletter emails and the host that serves this website. They only ever process data on our behalf, under instructions, to provide their service to us. We will only ever disclose information beyond that if the law genuinely requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your newsletter email for as long as you're subscribed; when you unsubscribe, we remove you from the active list. We keep contact-form messages only as long as we need them to handle your request and any reasonable follow-up. Analytics data is aggregated and retained in a limited, non-identifying form.

Your rights

This is your data, and you stay in control of it. At any time you can:

  • Unsubscribe from our newsletter using the link at the bottom of any email.
  • Ask us what we hold about you, and we'll tell you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete your information, and we'll do it.
  • Object to a particular use, and we'll stop unless we're legally required not to.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We honor those rights regardless of where you're writing from — just reach out and ask.

Children

This site is meant for adult healthcare workers and the leaders who support them. It is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top and, for anything significant, we'll do our best to give subscribers a heads-up. The current version always lives here.

How to reach us

If you have any question about your privacy, your data, or anything in this policy, please get in touch. A real person who has stood on the line will read it and write back. That's how we've always done things, and that's not going to change.
